SOS Cuba: Support for the Families of Political Prisoners

Following the arrest of seventy-five dissidents in 2003, People in Need established the SOS KUBA public donation campaign in order to support the families of the political prisoners sentenced to between six and twenty-eight years of prison.

Financial support is delivered exclusively to the families of political prisoners by People in Need couriers; volunteers who are willing to take a great personal risk and travel to Cuba. So far each family has been visited at least three times and was given humanitarian and financial help for the daily needs of both the prisoners and the family.

Since 1997, over eighty People in Need volunteers have traveled to Cuba without difficulty. Contributions to this fund, all of which will be handed directly to the families in Cuba, can be made to:
