Background:

People in Need (PIN) is one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central and Eastern Europe active in humanitarian and development aid, human rights and social inclusion. In 2019, more than 1300 employees worked in our Humanitarian and Development Section in 20 countries (Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe). As we are currently working on development of Humansis – beneficiary management platform, we are looking for a skilled Product Owner to take care of this project.

Main responsibilities:

Manage the entire process of the design, consultation, development and implementation of the Humansis Beneficiary Management System for People in Need. Including, but not limited to:

  • Conduct analysis of needs in PIN country programs;
  • Project manage the delivery of the platform, from design through to implementation, including desired features and installation options, aligned with available budget;
  • Organize procurement of all stages of the software development process;
  • Oversee software contract writing, editing and execution;
  • Coordinate validation of system architecture and functionality, adapting it to requirements of future users;
  • Coordinate implementation of the system in to mission programming, including its presentation, training and launch support;
  • Cooperate with future customers of the system on its modification and implementation according to their needs;
  • Provide monitoring and performance evaluation of the system;
  • Identify focus areas for system improvement and development of additional features and functions.

Main requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience at a comparative organization/project in identifying, designing and implementing technology solutions for projects with technical components is required
  • An advanced university degree in Management Information Systems, ICT Management, Computer Science or related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two (2) years additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Previous hands on experience in ICT related projects is required
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required
  • Knowledge of cloud based services (DevOps), Angular framework, Android aps development, UX/UI are an advantage

Other desirable attributes:

  • Experience in supporting and coordinating project activities in an NGO and/or humanitarian environment
  • Experience with ICT hardware, mobile phones and web-based technologies, particularly designing or deploying tools appropriate to low-bandwidth or sub-standard infrastructure environments
  • Experience in open source, mobile and emerging technology is extremely desirable
  • Exposure to PIN programmatic areas, including (but not limited to) emergency response, disaster preparedness, livelihoods and natural resources management and experience in applying technical solutions to address programmatic issues
  • Expert knowledge or significant interest in one or more of these areas is desirable: Digital Identity and Biometrics / Web and Mobile Applications / Geographic Information Systems / Information Management Systems / Blockchain and distributed ledgers
