BACKGROUND:

People in Need is one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central and Eastern Europe active in humanitarian and development aid, human rights and social inclusion. In 2018, more than 1300 employees worked in our Humanitarian and Development Section in 22 countries (Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe). Our growing team in Prague (with turnover of more than 100 million EUR per year) is looking for a new colleague to become Finance Desk Officer for our large regional projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

  • Supervision of various regional projects (between 1-5 different projects per year), coordination of drawing the respective funds (project budgets about 4 mil EUR each)
  • Coordination of the co-operation across all countries (about 15 people) within the projects, in order to be able to gain relevant information/data and documents on time and in correct manner for the reports
  • Coordinating the cooperation with our partner organisations in regards of budgets and reports
  • Being the focal point for assigned country programmes in terms of financial and economical topics
  • Supporting the country programmes financial health - including cash flow, coverage of operational costs, identification of financial and procedural risks, and implementation of relevant solutions
  • Support for the designated Finance Managers at the country programmes and other senior staff in clear understanding and compliance with finance and administrative standards and procedures, controls country programme´s compliance with PIN policies and procedures, donors’ rules and particular legislations
  • Taking part in budgets and financial reports preparation and provides support during external audits
  • Keeping the management fully appraised on a timely basis on all important issues

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of at least 3 years with a finance position in NGO environment needed
  • Previous experience with projects in the countries of the region (Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) or other projects across several regions / countries ideally experience with EU projects is preferred
  • Communicative level of English
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics NAV or other ERP is welcomed
  • Advanced Excel skills as you will handle Pivot Tables and other complex functions
  • Passion for details and working with numbers, knowledge of accounting processes is needed
  • Ability to work independently and effectively
  • Strong training/coaching skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with different groups of people and to respect the different cultural background
  • Ability to deal with complex compliance agenda
  • VALID WORK PERMIT FOR CZECH REPUBLIC
