People in Need (PIN) is calling for applications for the position of a Rehabilitation & Relocation Manager within East European Program of the Centre for Human rights and Democracy (HRD).

The primary goal of People in Need's Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is to support independent individuals and groups in countries with repressive regimes who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation. PIN Rehabilitation and Relocation Program aims to support human rights defenders at risk by providing them with different types of rehabilitation programs as well as temporary relocation.

The East European Program is currently focusing on support of civil society in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova/Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine and countries of Central Asia. The main programmatic focus includes:
  • Capacity building for civil society organisations and support for their activities
  • Direct aid to politically persecuted individuals and their families
  • International advocacy 

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Management of PIN Rehabilitation and Relocation Program: strategic planning, ensuring effective operation, evaluation
  • Work directly with local partners (HRDs, activists) for better understanding of their needs, collect feedback on PIN R&R activities
  • Development of manuals, program description, instructions stipulating program operation
  • Drafting project proposals, budgets, reports
  • Administration of project documentation 
  • Ensuring cooperation with psychotherapists, experts, service providers
  • Representation of PIN R&R Program among key partners and within coordination fora
  • Occasional coordination field visits to the target countries

 
SUITABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:
  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in Russian. Good knowledge of English. Good knowledge of Czech is a strong asset.
  • At least one year experience in the area of human rights, civil society
  • Relevant experience in social work, social care, psychosocial support is a strong asset.
  • Skills required: organization, communication, empathy, tolerance, emotional intelligence
  • Overall understanding of political/social/civil society landscape, security risks for human rights defenders in the region of the former Soviet Union
  • Ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple assignments
  • Conceptual thinking and reliability
  • Proven ability to work both as an effective team member and independently
