Official Launch of People In Need’s Gender and Civil Society project

The Non-Governmental Organization People in Need launches next Tuesday, 17 November, the project FOCO II – Strengthen of Civil Society in the Action for Gender Equality, in Huíla province. The project is supported by the European Union.

The ceremony will be held at Mediateca do Lubango, Dr. Agostinho Neto street, Lubango, starting at 8:30 am. PIN deputy head of mission, Kaiphas Kakoma, will be presente, as well as Bernardo Peso, representative of the local implementation partner ASY – Soka Yola Association.

FOCO II has the objective of strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations with the aim of improving the dialogue with local authorities and guide their social demands. The work is totally performed under a gender perspective.

The initiative fosters sensitization towards the end of gender based violence, and, specifically, domestic violence. The project also works to increase the efficacy of the Social Protection Network for children and domestic violence victims.

In addition to Huíla, the action is also being developed in the province of Bié, in partnership with the local Association ADAC – Association for Rural Development.

PIN

People in Need is a Czech NGO that offers humanitarian aid and development assistance in more than 20 countries. PIN works in Angola since 2006, in education, agriculture, nutrition, community health, wash and gender and civil society sectors. The projects are currently implemented in Bié, Huambo and Huíla provinces.
