Improving psychosocial support

Concerns about further conflict, or the level of fear for the future/for their own safety, remain high among frontline residents, single mothers or people with disabilities. People in Need focuses on strengthening the resilience and social cohesion of affected communities through the provision of individual targeted assistance, the creation of community initiatives and access to community spaces for older people with disabilities.

Repairing of houses and winterization

More then 10 000 household still requires repairs, which can be sorted for light repairs, medium repairs, heavy repairs. Differences are that in light repairs we usually replacing damaged windows and doors. By medium repair we usually repairing roofs, water or heating systems in the houses and heavy repair means that we are repairing walls of the houses, roofs, reparations of the walls inside the house, insulation of one living room, also repair of water or heating systems, repair of the toilet etc. All mentioned damages are caused by shelling, bombing or by shooting. As well we are providing coal or briquette for winter time to most affected communities and institutions such as kindergartens or schools and we are calling this action winterization

Good livelihood

High levels of poverty and limited access to services fundamentally affect the ability to sustainably provide and meet the basic needs of life for people living in Donetsk and Luhansk. As agriculture is one of the main sources of livelihood in these regions, PIN works with local smallholder farmers to ensure their self-sufficiency, increase their income and contribute to better food access for local communities through increased agricultural production.

Building and rehabilitation of water system

We are addressing critical water and sanitation gaps of vulnerable communities and institutions who affected by conflict. People in Need is providing drinking and technical water, materials for water supply system rehabilitation in areas suffering from water access issues, installing water treatment units, support sanitation and heating system rehabilitation in social institutions and on public infrastructure (schools, kindergartens, municipalities...). Facilitating waste management services in frontline communities which struggle to provide them.
Food/hygiene kits and vouchers

Food/hygiene kits and vouchers

We are focusing on providing necessary food/ hygiene kits and food/hygiene voucher distribution. It is important for us that these kits or vouchers are meeting current needs of people in communities where we are working. In these kits you can find basic items which are local people using for cooking such as buckwheat, oil, salt, sugar, flour or black tea or basic items for hygiene such as diapers, soaps or disinfection.
