Location: Prague (short-term travel envisaged)

At the beginning is the possibility of home based work. During this time we require to visit HQ in Prague 1-2 times a month.

We require a long term Schengen visa.

This is a replacement for a person on maternity leave.

People in Need (PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance in over 23 countries worldwide. In 2023, almost 2 400 staff members worked in our Relief and Development Department (RDD) in Asia, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

About the position:

The Compliance Unit is one of the support departments in People in Need. It is the principal actor in providing analysis of the large portfolio of institutional donor requirements and coordinates external audits. The Compliance Unit advises both the HQ and the Country Programmes and is a firm part of the PIN Operations System. It is in regular consultations with all types of PIN departments regarding the donor rules and their application to project implementation and systems set up.

This is a replacement for a person on maternity leave.

Principal tasks:

  • Leading the Compliance Unit
  • Monitoring, analysis of institutional donor requirements and assessing related risks to the organisation – as PIN is continually expanding its donor portfolio, the ability to work with different grants and service contract projects is necessary
  • Provision of support to HQ and Country Programme teams in compliance matters (financial aspects, audits, modifications, explanation of the rules, etc.)
  • Identification of risks related to compliance and finance and communication thereof within the organisation
  • Keeping up with the dynamic developments in donor requirements and identifying changes with potential impact on the organisation
  • Preparation and consultation of internal policies relevant to donor compliance
  • Provision of intra-organisational trainings
  • Performance of internal compliance-related controls
  • Supporting the external audits performed in PIN
  • Maintaining knowledge about the sanction regimes and vetting requirements imposed by the donors

Main Requirements:

  • Knowledge of institutional donors’ requirements and experience with institutional donor management is indispensable
  • Expertise in compliance or finance management of service contracts funded by institutional donors (USAID, FCDO, UN) is an advantage
  • Ability to provide support and training to the RDD Regional structures and Country Programmes
  • Ability to perform short-term visits to Country Programmes
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to simplify complex issues
  • Ability to work with legal texts related to donor requirements and contracts
  • Experience with audits and understanding of project financial management is an advantage
  • Proactive approach to communication with different types of internal clients and to work tasks in general
  • Master’s degree, education in law and/or finance is an advantage
  • Fluency in English (both verbal and written)
  • A long term Schengen visa.
