People in Need (PIN) is a Czech NGO working in relief and development, see more at www.peopleinneed.cz.

The Grants Development Manager based in the UK has two main agenda:

  • improving PIN’s positioning with UK based institutional (especially DFID) and private donors
  • support country program teams to develop proposals, under the Senior Grants Development Manager’s supervision and in line with PIN’s Relief and Development Department strategy for 2017-2021.

The GDM UK is part of the Knowledge and Learning Department, a dynamic team of technical and program development advisors (some of them being based in London).

The GDM UK represents and develops PIN’s positioning strategies towards selected institutional donors based in UK (esp. DFID) under the direction of PIN’s UK Representative and the Senior Grant Development Manager. S/he actively participate various working groups (e.g. Funding working groups in UK, DFID Market Engagement Events) selected in line with country programs priorities and PIN’s strategies. S/he works either individually or in collaboration with PIN teams and partners organization.

The GDM will also lead proposal preparation process and/or supports other assigned persons in the proposal preparation process, always in line with PIN´s Relief and Development Department strategy and concerned country program strategy, as well as donor’s requirements. GDM is familiar with the program priorities of key donors and their funding requirements (especially DFID).

The applicant has to have a proven experience with development of successful proposal and a sound knowledge of UK donor´s strategy/policy framework, contractual formats and templates.

Start-up date and duration: ASAP, 12 months with possible extension

Job location: PIN office in London with visit to the fields (30%)

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the diversification of funding from institutional donors, especially UK based (e.g. DFID, private foundations)
  • Contributes to develop relationships with existing and new partners/donors/organizations based in UK
  • Serves as the focal person for the institutional fundraising related agenda, especially within BOND, including participation in Working Groups
  • Develops proposal calendar, constitute and lead a team of staff in preparation and production of proposals, consequently develop either full proposals or their parts based on the agreements
  • Ensures proposed action is in compliance with the donor´s requirements and strategic priorities, as well as the priorities of People in Need
  • Lead and/or support partner negotiations including teaming and pre-bid agreements
  • Coordinates required technical inputs , with other PIN units (especially Knowledge & Learning)
  • Ensures a full and timely submission of complete proposal and annexes
  • Contributes to ensure institutional knowledge about solicited projects and  donors´ requirements and priorities
  • Contributes to the operations of PIN UK as needed
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as required

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of proposal and donor funding requirements, especially UK based (DFID and others) and the ability to apply that knowledge in preparing proposals
  • Reliable communication with institutional donors and ability to build positive relations
  • Have the ability to both coordinate different teams and participate in different team environments
  • Proven track record of success in securing funding through competitive proposal submissions
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to perform under time pressure, have flexibility, work independently, manage multiple tasks and work effectively in fast-paced and multi-cultural environments.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for writing and an ability to formulate clear, understandable and logically structured text
  • Motivation for work in development cooperation
