People in Need is calling for applications for the position of a Junior Project Coordinator within East European Program of the Centre for Human rights and Democracy (HRD), with the focus on work with civil society in Ukraine. The primary goal of People in Need's Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is to support independent individuals and groups in countries with repressive regimes who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society and independent media in countries that are going through democratic transformation.
The East European Program is currently focusing on support of independent media and civil society in Eastern Partnership countries and countries of Central Asia. The main programmatic focus includes:
  • Capacity building and grants for civil society organisations and independent media;
  • emergency direct aid and psychosocial support to politically persecuted individuals and their families;
  • international advocacy.
Location: Kyiv, Ukarine
Starting date: As soon as possible
Type of contract: Working contract
Duration: one year (with the possibility of an extension, depending on funding)

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in planning and coordinating particular projects, program activities, primarily focused on the support of human rights and capacity building for civil society;
  • assists in various administrative tasks related to the working processes;
  • conducts occasional field visits to the target region;
  • assists in development of projects, including project proposal writing and reporting; 
  • administrates project documentation; 
  • cooperates with the Finance Manager on budgets for individual projects;  
  • is in regular contact with partner organizations;
  • assists with preparation or reports for the donors, final and complex reports to be prepared in consultation with the respective superior;
  • assists with preparation of internal quarterly reports from assigned projects;
  • communicates with project partners and beneficiaries in a timely and secure manner.
SUITABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:
  • university degree;
  • understanding of human rights values and standards;
  • at least one year experience of volunteering or working in the NGO sector and performing administrative/logistical tasks
  • fluent English and Ukrainian languages;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple ongoing assignments;
  • good knowledge of Word and Excel.
