Job location: London with frequent field visits (30-40% visits). Being based in UK with frequent trips to London office is also upon agreement.

Starting date: based on agreement

Duration: 24 months with expected extension

Salary: as per PIN’s salary scales: 31,200 to 37,000 GBP /year for London

Main task:

  • To develop the quality and scale of PIN’s programming in the Nutrition & Public Health sectors.

Main focus:

  • Strengthen PIN Country Programs and employees’ capacity to design and effectively implement Nutrition & Public Health interventions
  • Ensure the technical quality of PIN’s Nutrition & Public Health interventions through methodological support in emergency, recovery and development contexts
  • Be aware of existing trends in the sector and develop new innovations in collaboration with Country Programs and, when relevant, external partners.

Main responsibilities:

  • assist Country Programs with designing new nutrition-related projects and program strategies
  • provide technical and methodological consultations
  • preparing and conducting surveys, baselines or evaluations
  • assist Country Programs with setting-up Monitoring, Evaluation Accountability and Learning systems for nutrition projects
  • lead on internal evaluations of health projects, especially behaviour change-related projects
  • participate in selection and commenting ToRs of external evaluators of nutrition/health projects
  • build nutrition-related capacity of PIN’s national and expatriate staff and when needed, develop practical toolkits, e-learning modules, etc. for raising the quality of PIN’s nutrition work
  • in cooperation with PIN’s Communication & Advocacy Department support Country Programs to develop and implement communication & advocacy strategies related to PIN’s nutrition and public health programming
  • results-oriented networking with other international actors
  • support PIN’s operational research partnerships with UK and US universities
  • assist Country Programs’ in presenting its nutrition-related expertise to the key stakeholders
  • increase the awareness and recognition of PIN’s nutrition and public health work among key donors and potential partners
  • develop guidance and public documentation on PIN’s flagship nutrition & public health approaches
  • staying up-to-date on the existing developments and trends in the nutrition and public health sectors, ensure this is reflected in PIN’s programming
  • support country programmes to develop technology-based innovations in the sector in cooperation with PIN’s Global Innovation Advisor

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing nutrition, nutrition security and/or public health related projects
  • Experience with emergency nutrition programs is preferred
  • Knowledge of epidemiology would be an advantage
  • Solid technical understanding of the nutrition sector, a relevant University degree would be expected however this could be replaced by strong experience in the sector
  • Excellent writing skills (experience with logframe development and proposal writing required)
  • Experience in designing and managing surveys (e.g. baselines, SMART or SQUEAC surveys, evaluations)
  • Systematic attitude to work, sufficient attention to detail
  • Very good ability to communicate with people in a positive, non-conflicting way
  • Good representation skills, fluent spoken and written English
  • Commitment of staying with PIN’s Knowledge and Learning Department for at least 2 years
