A Gender and Inclusive Climate-Migration Study, Iraq

Majd Zaghir

People in Need conducted a deep dive migration-climate vulnerability study, which was completed in July-August 2022 across 3 sites; Baaja (Shirqat District), in Mokhol (Beiji District) and al-Muaibidi (Tikrit District) in Salah-al-Din governorate, Iraq. The aim is to better understand the perception of climate change's impacts on farming communities, other environmental challenges, and both the coping mechanisms and long-term solutions identified. The emphasis was posed to gain a deeper understanding of migration, movement dynamics, and patterns within the target communities, emphasizing the gender and social inclusion factors that can be linked to this.
